Have the opportunity to host an artistic residency to boost your innovation process and the dissemination of your technology!
What is STARTS?
The European Commission, DG CONNECT launched the (S+T)*ARTS = STARTS Initiative to promote inclusion of artists in innovation projects. This initiative merges Science, Technology, and the ARTS and attempts to remove the boundaries between art and engineering to stimulate creativity and innovation.
What about STARTS Residencies?
The STARTS Residencies programme aims to support and fund artistic residencies that bring original artistic contributions to technology-based projects. During each STARTS Residency, a Tech Project collaborates with an Artist, leading to the creation of an original artwork, and the development of the innovative aspects of the tech research. A grant (up to 30 000€) is awarded to the Artist of each STARTS Residency as a contribution to their involvement in the residencies programme.
Who can apply to the call for Tech Project?
A Tech Project is a collaborative project between institutions or an internal project in a research centre or company, developing an innovative technology at a state-of-the-art level in an emerging field. Each Tech Project applying for a STARTS Residency may be funded through public European or national programmes or through private funds.
How to apply?
Tech Projects describe their technologies and hosting offers. Artists and creatives select a Tech Project from the list of available projects, and then submit an artistic proposal. An international jury then selects the next STARTS residencies.
