Miraex receives the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label

13.04.2021 – Miraex’ photonic sensing solution has been awarded by the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label”, a world class assessment tool for clean and profitable solutions.

The photonic sensing solution, developed by Miraex was attributed the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” Label following an assessment performed by external independent experts and based on verified standards. It is thereby joining the #1000solutions challenge, an initiative by the Solar Impulse Foundation to select solutions that meet high standards in profitability and sustainability and present them to decision-makers to fast-track their implementation.

To receive the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” Label, Miraex’s photonic sensing solution was thoroughly assessed by a pool of independent experts according to 5 criteria covering the three main topics of Feasibility, Environmental and Profitability. All labelled solutions are part of the #1000solutions portfolio that will be presented to decision-makers in business and government by Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation. The aim of this initiative is to encourage the adoption of more ambitious environmental targets and fast-track the implementation of these solutions on a large scale.

In addition to the solution label, Solar Impulse found Miraex solutions aligned with three sustainable development goals set by the United Nations;  Miraex is now accredited as a business that is contributing to achieve SDG 7,9, and 11; below you can see the breakdown for these sustainable development goals that Miraex is accredited to, and how we contribute to reach these goals.

  • SDG 7 (Solutions for affordable and clean energy): The ambition of SDG 7 is to guarantee universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy, as well as improving energy efficiency. Indeed, a major field Miraex is operating at is the Wind turbine farms. Currently, wind turbine operators have a hard time maintaining the working efficiency of their machines, as they are mostly in remote places, where transportation costs of maintenance parts & tools are extremely high, and there is no possibility of having real-time data about the assets state. Miraex provides solutions to increase the efficiency of wind turbines by monitoring the state of the machines with great precision, real-time. This allows wind turbine operators to detect anomalies before they happen, and take action accordingly; a much more energy efficient way of operating when compared to the conventional way of maintenance. This allows the wind turbines to increase their energy production, thus increasing the universal access to clean and affordable energy.
  • SDG 9 (solutions for industry, innovation, and infrastructure): The ambition of SDG 9 is to build resilient infrastructure and encourage sustainable innovation. With its photonic solution, Miraex collaborates with industrial businesses in order to increase their profitability, while also transforming their operations to be more sustainable and eco-friendly.
  • SDG 11 (solutions for sustainable cities and communities): Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, sustainable and resilient. The ambition of SDG 11 is to ensure universal access to adequate, safe, and affordable housing, as well as sustainable transport, and to reduce the pollutant load from urban areas. By working directly with major railway companies, Miraex photonic solutions monitor the energy efficiency of railway systems across Europe; Decreasing major energy waste that is attributed to the maintenance of the systems, while ensuring the safety of the passengers remains in the maximum.
