Messaging Workshop 1: “Discover your brand’s key messages and link them to your key audiences”

Can you deliver your elevator pitch in 30 sharp seconds? Can you convince investors why they should be interested in you? Do you know how to win over potential customers? Partners? The media?
–> Don’t let your good business ideas fail due to a lack of proper communications!

In this hands-on and interactive workshop, with ideally 2-3 representatives from each company, you will complete three tried-and-true exercises designed to help you connect your brand’s key messages to your key target audiences. You will draft investor and sales pitches and present them to participants for peer reviews and upgrades.

You will:

  • Discover your brand’s messages and how to communicate them with force, clarity and differentiation.
  • Learn that not all audiences need to hear the same things
  • Learn to articulate the benefits and values you bring to each audience
  • Avoid the most common communications mistakes of start-up

The workshop will be held in English.

Messaging Workshop 2: “Communicating your brand online via thought leadership and content strategy”

Is your online and social media presence a “nice to have” or a “need to have?” Do you think that your product or service is your only source of differentiation, innovation and disruption? Is building a loyal community online only for larger, more established companies?
–> Make your online presence work hard for your business.
–> The time to begin is now.

Messaging is not only for face-to-face communications. Continue the dialogue online and in social media; create and sustain a community of loyal users; foster collaboration, co-creation and co-innovation; totally disrupt competition. This interactive workshop builds upon messages created in the first workshop. You will learn the value of content strategy and thought leadership to exploit your unique messages and to create value in the eyes of your customers. You will originate two ideas for dynamic, differentiated online and social media campaigns that you will present to participants for feedback and peer review.

You will:

  • Generate valuable insights and advice on issues your customers and prospects care most about
  • Turn insights and advice into campaigns that change people’s minds and incite action
  • Learn how and where you should be present online and in what social media
  • Learn how to interject yourself into the conversation
  • Learn how to mine data from your interactions

The workshop will be held in English.

Bio of the Workshop leader: Sue Mizera

Sue Mizera is a 30-year veteran — 5 years in New York, 25 in Geneva — of Young & Rubicam, a global communications agency and member of the WPP Group. She is the former Managing Director of Young & Rubicam Business Consultants, Geneva, a strategic brand and business consultancy that she created. Sue’s clients have included Microsoft Business Dynamics, Areva T&D, Caterpillar, the World Economic Forum, Siminn (Iceland Telecom), DuPont (multiple divisions), CareFusion/Becton Dickinson, Medtronic and Stryker. Besides current projects with large multinationals, new branding projects focus on start-ups and SMEs in innovation incubators, for whom Sue has tailored a branding and messaging process in line with their size and needs.
Sue is an American with dual Swiss-American citizenship. She graduated from Washington University, Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, with degrees in Classics, Philosophy and Comparative Literature. She holds a Ph.D. from Princeton in Classics.
