This workshop is quite unique since you will meet three IP experts at the same time. Each one has their specialities and expertise (…and are competitors to some extent), so we can expect a rich learning experience as well as interesting debates on certain topics.

Bio of the Workshop leader: Nathalie Tissot
Nathalie has studied law and archeology. She holds a doctorate in law and is a professor of intellectual property at the University of Neuchâtel. She is head of the Intellectual Property and Innovation Pole created in the Faculty of Law of the University of Neuchâtel in 2013 and is an independent lawyer in the Tissot study in La Chaux-de- Fonds (http://www.etudetissot.ch/site/). She was Vice-Rector of the University of Neuchâtel in charge of research valuation from 2008 to 2012 and Legal Counsel of the Rectorate in terms of technology transfer from 2012 to the end of 2014. Her fields of activity are mainly intellectual property, industrial law (company law) and contracts (licenses, research, mandate, business and others).

Bio of the Workshop leader: Christophe Saam
After his studies of electrical engineering at the Lausanne Swiss Federal Institute for Technology, Christophe Saam was in charge of research in the field of holograms used in the manufacture of integrated circuits. In 1990, he became a Search Examiner at the European Patent Office in Berlin, where he learned both the patent law and on-line search techniques in the field of flat screens, error coding and data compression. Upon returning to Switzerland in 1994, Christophe Saam devoted himself to advising clients active in electronics, telecommunications, microtechnology and watchmaking regarding patent matters. Admitted as European Patent Attorney with the European Patent Office, he also studied American patent law in Washington, and was awarded by a diploma of the University of Strasbourg in patent litigation.
In 2010, he was appointed by the Swiss Federal Assembly as part-time judge to the Federal Patent Court. He is an active member of different Swiss and international professional associations, such as FICPI, VSP, AIPPI, LES, VESPA, and PIUG. Christophe Saam contributes a column on intellectual property matters in various economical newspapers. In 1998, he founded the patent law firm P&TS whose president and managing director he is (www.patentattorneys.ch).

Bio of the Workshop leader: André Roland
André is active since more than 25 years in the field of intellectual property, initially as a patent examiner at the European Patent Office in Berlin, then as IP manager at Debiopharm, and finally as a founder and managing partner of ANDRE ROLAND SA (http://www.andreroland.com). Since 2012 he also acts as a Judge at the Swiss Federal Patent Court, on a part time basis.

André holds a Masters in Physics from Lausanne University, as well as a Certificate in Human Physiology. Over the last years he has been particularly active in the development of IP strategies, due diligences, IP audit and education. He mainly works with patents but also on a regular basis with trademarks, industrial design and plant breeders’ rights.
